March is Women’s History Month, and we’re excited to amplify our team members’ voices! The National Women’s History Alliance announced this year’s theme as “Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future.” Says NWHA, “Women are at the forefront of driving holistic change. Their leadership is not only addressing today’s most urgent challenges – it is laying the foundation for a more resilient and inclusive tomorrow.”
In this blog series, women on our team will share their journey to the technology field, the skills that have been most valuable to them, their advice to women considering a career in tech and more.
From solution leads to co-ops, these women will provide their diverse perspectives about what it means to be a woman in technology!
In this feature, get to know three of our Business Analysts/Product Owners – Heather, Kayleigh, and Anitha.

What inspired you to pursue a career in technology/ software engineering?
When I started college, I was originally a math major. After my first semester, I realized that was not going to be my path. I have always had a love of technology, so switching to computer science was a natural switch.
What skill (technical or non-technical) has been most valuable in your career so far?
My most valuable skill has been my ability to listen and translate. One of the things that many people in tech know how to do is listen, but having the ability to then translate the tech speak into non-tech speak will advance anyone’s career path. It allows you to train and work with new developers and staff, work with the business owners, and explain to other teams when their processes are not the same.
How has Solü’s company culture supported your growth and development?
Solü is an organization where taking initiative isn’t just welcomed, it’s expected. They encourage stepping into new technologies and volunteering for opportunities. Every year, there are opportunities for growth in our roles and our new tasks that we can take on to broaden our horizons.
What advice would you give to women considering a career in tech?
The most important thing I can say is to stay curious, stay interested. Focus on skills: critical thinking, communication, technical fluency, and being adaptable. Find a good mentor. I’ve had amazing mentors, who I now call friends. They help build confidence and will help guide career paths. Languages will change over time, technologies will change over time, but if you have the skills to succeed, you will.
Kayleigh S | Business Analyst/Product Owner

What inspired you to pursue a career in technology/ software engineering?
I liked the idea of working in an industry that is relevant, ever- changing, and interesting.
What skill (technical or non-technical) has been most valuable in your career so far?
My interpersonal communication skills and my ability to be flexible have been most valuable to me thus far.
How has Solü’s company culture supported your growth and development?
When I was new to the company, Solü provided me with knowledgeable mentors to help me learn my role. Solü also supported me as I sought a Product Owner certification, as well as a Business Analysis certification.
Also, the yearly Leads Summit and regular 1:1s help ensure that I am supported and challenged.
What advice would you give to women considering a career in tech?
I would say go for it! It’s an exciting industry and a great time to be a part of it.
Anitha V | Business Analyst/Product Owner

What inspired you to pursue a career in technology/ software engineering?
I was drawn to technology because I love the combination of creativity and problem solving it offers. Every project feels like solving a puzzle – understanding the need, designing solution, refining it and seeing it come to life.
What skill (technical or non-technical) has been most valuable in your career so far?
One of the most valuable skills in my career so far has been problem solving by truly understanding the problem first. No two challenges are ever exactly the same. The ability to break down and understand complex problems, stay calm under pressure, and approach solutions with logic has made all the difference.
How has Solü’s company culture supported your growth and development?
Solü’s company culture has played an important role in my growth and development. From day one, I have felt supported as a professional and as a person. What stands out most is the emphasis on collaboration. I have been encouraged to take ownership and take on new challenges, all within an environment where feedback is constructive and growth-focused.
What advice would you give to women considering a career in tech?
Don’t let self-doubt hold you back. Many people in tech are figuring things out as they go. You don’t need to know everything to get started.
